Parnian Furniture Brings British Luxury to Scottsdale

Introducing Savoir Beds Completely Hand-Crafted and Luxurious For the Ultimate Sleeping Experience

April 1, 2010, Scottsdale, Arizona-- Scottsdale residents can now sleep as well as England’s nobility now that world class bed-maker, Savoir, enters the doors of Parnian Furniture. London based Savoir Beds has an international reputation for crafting the finest handmade mattresses and beds in the world, and buyer, Ali Parnian of Parnian Furniture, is confident his clientele is waiting for them!

"Over the last ten years, Parnian has seen an increase in customers who are sophisticated, well traveled and discriminating in taste. Savoir Beds custom creates beds for the most exclusive and discerning clients and hotels in the world. All their mattresses are custom made of all natural, superior materials, crafted by one artisan from beginning to end as per the individual body needs of each client. It is this type of painstaking quality our clients are looking for, and after searching for a worthy product for over five years, I am confident that Savior will provide them with the unparalleled sleeping experience they are looking for.”

Savoir Beds is over 100 years old and has a long and distinguished heritage. The company was originally commissioned in 1905 to produce beds for the world’s grandest hotel of its time, The Savoy in London. Over the 20th century, Savoir built up its association with the world’s greatest hotels and therein found its greatest patrons.

Every mattress is ergonomically better for the body (and therefore the mind), free of toxins and allergens and a work of art showcasing oldworld artisan’s skills. The late King Hassan of Morocco compared a night spent on a Savior mattress in Claridge’s Hotel to “sleeping on a cloud;” upon leaving, he ordered 24 Savoir beds. The road to retail thus began as the rich and famous personally commissioned beds. Clients include the Aga Khan, the Rothschild family, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Elton John, Emma Thompson, and many more film, rock and sports stars, captains of industry, and anyone seeking a perfect nights sleep. Though prices start at $8,000, Alistair Hughes, owner and CEO of the British based company, feels that Savoir’s presence in the U.S. is timely, as well: ”Savoir represents a smart investment in healthy living and smart economics. The new economy is about shifting perceptions. People spend thousands on a watch or vacation, and more on a car, but they are reluctant to invest in something in which they spend a third of their lives.

Savoir is not about selling beds; it is about selling quality of life through sound, peaceful sleep.”

Traditional Skills and Craftsmanship Have Made Savoir Beds Legendary Like a Savile Row garment, Savoir Beds are bespoke, that is, completely custom ordered to meet height, weight, body and design needs of each client. For couples, two differently tensioned and upholstered mattresses are lined and zipped together to bring individualized comfort to both. In terms of comfort, this means getting the level of support just right.

To do this, Savoir encourages prospective clients to ‘test drive’ a bed. Experienced sleep consultants then advise on ideal fillings and spring tension to ensure pressure points are minimized and optimal blood circulation and temperature regulation take place. With 28 grades of mattress firmness, “one can choose to ‘sleep IN a cloud, or ON a cloud,” explains Alistair Hughes, London based owner of Savoir Beds.

Comfort comes from a double mattress that has 1,600 pocket springs, 35 pounds of teased natural horsehair (the equivalent of 20 horsetails), layers of cotton felt, pure lambs wool padding and a cashmere-filled topper. The bed base, or divan, encloses an additional set of 8” deep hourglass springs, star-lashed together in the traditional technique for stability and support. The base is luxuriously finished with an additional roll of tufted horsehair and a trademarked linen and cotton casing. Every Savoir order is a custom order. Frames and mattresses and even bed fabrications are all individualized for each client, though Savoir has a collection of these from which to choose. They recently introduced a ‘dayBED’ for those places in the home where a comfortable yet decorated non-bed silhouette is desired. Because of the breadth of design possibilities, Savoir Beds has attracted internationally renowned interior designers including Terence Conran, Nina Campbell, Anthony Browne and David Linley, A Savoir Bed is for the ‘connoisseur’ who understands a good night’s sleep is priceless.

Savoir Beds will be merchandised in a dedicated area of Parnian Furniture. The store was established in 1977 and is a family owned and run business. Today, they sell some of the finest furniture from around the world as well as their own cutting edge designs. Parnian Furniture is located at 162 19 N. 82nd Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
