Furniture Care and Maintenance Tips
How To Care For High Gloss Furniture
To ensure your high gloss finish (finishes that are shiny like a mirror or a piano)lasts for many years to come we have provided some suggestions on how to best maintain the finishes on your quality furniture. Here are some guidelines on how to maintain the High Gloss Lacquer Finishes:
• DO NOT use Windex or ammonia based products to clean the surface
• DO NOT use oil based finishes like Pledge to polish the surface
• IMPORTANT - Before dusting, if there is heavey dust, gently use a synthetic feather duster to remove the bulk of the dust first before using a cloth, if there is too much dust and you don't take this step, you will effectively be scratching the top of your finish with that dust.
• DO use a slightly damp cotton T-Shirt or soft cloth to clean off smears and dust
• DO apply Turtle Wax (liquid or solid) as needed Monthly or Bi-Monthly or as needed depending on use, to fill in any small spider scratches and to leave a protective layer of wax on the surface of the furniture. Be careful not to let the wax get into cracks or grooves as when it dries it will turn white and it may be difficult to reach in those cracks to remove.
If you want a spray to apply daily for cleaning, there are some products such as Polyshield X-Staticising Dusting Spray for High Gloss Finishes that are available at Parnian. If you have any questions regarding maintenance of your Parnian product please call 480-991-5166 and a Parnian representative will be happy to help you.
If you get scratches that will not go away with turtle wax, but are not deep enough to feel when you run your fingernail across it, there may be some options such as liquid abrasives that you can use to polish that area. This only is a possible option for high gloss finishes and requires special instructions. You can contact a Parnian representative for help and instructions.
